How to Advertise for Free on YouTube & Leverage Your Video SEO!Video

I would like to start this post by giving a shout out to Phil Nottingham of Distilled for inspiring me to figure out how to do this and share it in a post. Recently, Will Critchlow published in the SEOMoz blog access to a couple of great videos from SearchLove London and Boston, respectively. Similar to the Give It Up session that takes place at the close of MozCon, these Let’s Get Real sessions got all of the speakers together on stage to throw out one or two mind-blowing tips .
In the SearchLove London video, Phil had a tip that involved creating Google Adwords ads for the display network that make it possible to overlay a banner ad into your own YouTube videos that link back to your site.
Yes, wake up people!!! I said, “You can configure a YouTube video to have an embedded link back to your site.“ Yes, in the video!
Here’s what it looks like:
Here’s how to do it:
Log in to your Google Adwords Account
Under “Shared library” in the Left Nav, click “Linked YouTube accounts.”
Follow the instructions to link the YouTube account that houses your videos to your Adwords account. This will take you to log in at YouTube.
Once linked on YouTube, navigate to “Advertising” – Via the “Advertising” link in the YouTube site footer.
Click “Run your Ad” – This will take you back to the “All Video Campaigns” Dashboard in your Adwords Account.
Click “New Video Campaign”
Here’s the fun part – Blow through this section and just choose whatever settings you want.These settings won’t matter because you aren’t going to run this campaign, ever.
Stay with me people!!!
Click “Save and Continue”
On the next page, under “Select Bidding and Audience,” set your maximum bid to $0.01. You have to put in a bid of some amount. Since you aren’t going to be running this ad, populate it with the lowest amount possible then click “Save Targeting Group.”
On the next page, click on “+ New Video Ad”
Click “Select a Video”
Find your YouTube video by searching your channel or you can simply enter in the video’s YouTube URL.
On the resulting page, Select “Let me choose” – Then “YouTube Videos” under Networds and “In-Display” under Ad Formats. Populate the Ad attributes with something. It can be anything. It can be gibberish if you like. Again, you aren’t going to run this ad. Click “Save.”
Now you are on your Campaign dashboard. Immediately go in and “Pause” the campaign you just created.
Only two more steps – Hang in There! It’s about to get good!!!!

Click on the “Videos” Tab – Then Click on the Hyperlink that says “Add call-to-action overlay”
In the pop out box, populate the Headline, ad text, link URL back to your Website product or information page, and you can even select a product image or brand logo. The Preview will populate as you fill in your info.
Note: This is your real Ad content, so make sure it’s a great call to action and free of typos and misspellings because everyone who views the video is going to see this.
Voila! – You now have an overlay with a call to action and a link back to your site on your YouTube video. And, not only was it FREE, but now, wherever that video goes (i.e. if someone embeds it on their site, in their blog, etc.), the call to action goes right along with it.
It shows at the beginning of the video, but doesn’t infringe on the video’s main content. After the intro it fades and then automagically reappears at the end of the video and remains “sticky” once the video reaches its end. Setting this up Has Some Really Cool Side Effects!
In addition to this very cool FREE advertising, you are also going to now have analytics under the “Videos” tab in each of your campaigns that allow you to see:
What percentage of your video viewers actually watch
How many Impressions your Call to Action received
How many clicks your Call to Action received
Click-thru-Rate
While you’re at it, go ahead and set up your Video Remarketing Lists.
Under Shared Library, click “Video Remarketing Lists.”
Select which YouTube Channel you want to Remarket to, set your cookie duration, etc. and you’re good to go!
Even if you aren’t planning on retargeting to them right now, it’s a good idea to go ahead and set this up. That way, when you do decide to remarket to your YouTube viewers, there will already be a nice pool of viewers thirsty to know more about you!

Redesigned front-end pages for new affiliates debut

New affiliates will now see these two new, completely redesigned pages upon joining SFI:
The first page (shown on the left) is what new affiliates now see immediately upon submitting their affiliate registration. The second page (shown on the right) is the next page they’ll see and incorporates the “getting started” video.

These two new pages match the modern, new style we debuted with the new SFI gateway so that new affiliates experience a continuous “flow” of the same consistent look and feel as they begin their SFI journey. The two new pages are also fully mobile-responsive and automatically adjust for any screen size! We’ve also updated and enhanced the text to make getting started clearer and easier.
But we’re not stopping there! SFI Basics and the whole LaunchPad series of lessons will also be getting a similar facelift very soon…with more pages to follow. Indeed, we hope to have at least 90% of the entire Affiliate Center (and TripleClicks too) modernized and fully mobile-responsive by the end of 2016.

HOW TO USE E-CARDS
From any Affiliate Snapshot, just just choose an E-Card category and then click the blue “Send” button.
OR…you send E-Cards directly from your Genealogy. Just click the Communications tab from your Genealogy report. In the Send E-Card column, select the type of E-Card you want to send from the dropdown menu for the affiliate of your choice, and click the Send button. TIP: Use your Genealogy filters to select specific groups of people who you want to send a specific card and message to.
After choosing your E-Card design, you’ll then be directed to the E-Card preview screen, where you can enter your greeting and personal message. Just select Send Messagebutton when you’re ready to send your E-Card!
Remember: E-Cards provide an unlimited number of ways to welcome, inform, congratulate, and recognize your team. E-Cards are free to use, but there is a sending limit of 200 per day, and you may not send any one affiliate more than one card a day. Get more information about using E-Cards HERE.

SFI now in its 18th year!
We are now officially in our 18th year! From but a small acorn 18 years ago, SFI has grown into a tall and mighty oak tree, with strong and deep roots. But you ain’t seen nothin’ yet…because we planted an entire FOREST…and it’s spreading across every country in the world.
SFI President & Founder Gery Carson remembers the day SFI was born:
“As an entrepreneur, there have been very few holidays where I haven’t worked at least a few hours, and this day in 1998 was no different. I went into my home office that morning planning to spend a few casual hours–on nothing in particular. It was a holiday after all and no one else on my staff at the time was working. So it was just going to be a relaxing day where I’d let my mind have a break from the typical daily grind.
I remember at the time that affiliate programs were becoming a big deal, thanks to the Internet, which made it very easy to track sales using affiliate links. Numerous big-name companies were now employing affiliate programs as a part of their marketing strategy. And I thought…why not us, too!
I remember being particularly impressed with Amazon.com’s affiliate program. The word was, they had 60,000 affiliates. 60,000! At the time, that number seemed enormous to me, an impossible number. But I couldn’t have been more wrong of course because, in just a couple years, we would be experiencing days where we’d sign up over 60,000 affiliates in a single day!
But on this morning, I was simply sketching out a few basics on how our affiliate program would work. At the time, we were publishing our magazine, Six Figure Income, which featured exclusive interviews with home-based entrepreneurs who were earning at least $100,000 annually from their business. This magazine was essentially our one and only product. By the way, it’s from the magazine’s name that the SFI Marketing Group name came to be (a few years later we changed the initials to stand for Strong Future International to better align with our vision for the program).
Six Figure Income magazine’s premier issue was the March/April 1998 issue. Prior to this, and stretching all the way back to 1986, we had published other newsletters and magazines devoted primarily to mail order entrepreneurs, including Mail Dealer Newsletter, Mail Profits Magazine, and Profits Magazine. During those years, marketing by mail was the “Internet” for many entrepreneurs. All the marketing we do today on the Web; in those years, at least for entrepreneurs like myself, it was all mail based (with a little bit of help from phone, fax, and conference calls).
Six Figure Income magazine was published just four times per year, and a one-year subscription was $49, so we had a healthy margin…enough margin to pay a handsome commission to anyone who wished to be an affiliate of ours and sell subscriptions.
Within days of deciding to create our affiliate program, I had published information on how to sign up online (supplemented, if I recall correctly, with a small direct mail campaign ironically). To my pleasant surprise, sign-ups starting coming in almost immediately. Not a lot, maybe a dozen or two a week, but that number rapidly accelerated. Soon it was hundreds of sign-ups a day, then thousands, then tens of thousands!
Driving this, now, hyper-growth was our decision to expand the program and compensation plan–many of the details of which were hammered out during a weekend at SFI affiliate Steven Sashen’s Boulder, Colorado, home with affiliates Gump Wallen and the late, great Richard Strayer (we miss you, Rich!). By January 2001, we had exceeded one MILLION affiliates. With our most recently assigned ID number 16483269, over 15 million others have joined SFI since.
So like many great accomplishments, it all started with a simple idea, a simple inspiration. Today, SFI is the online home for millions of entrepreneurs from every country in the world. Indeed, SFI today is very possibly the largest and most successful affiliate program in the world. Aim high. Dream big.”
